My mam tells me when I was a toddler people used to try and talk to me and I would just stare blankly at them with no response. 🤣 It’s clear as I got older though I enjoyed being cheeky and always loved making people laugh!

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 I had a lovely upbringing, brother that I loved the socks off (still do obvs!) and enjoyed my primary school experience from what I can remember, although I did go to three schools so can only really remember the last! During my ADHD assessment I remember my mam saying I’d always be losing things in primary school and like hell would I keep anything in my hair like hair bands, bobbles etc - hence the bob! 😆

The reason I’m delving into my childhood is because at the end of this month it marks one year since my ADHD diagnosis and I’m going to try and highlight times in my life where I can now see were struggles and signs of being neurodivergent. 🧡

For me, this was more evident in secondary school which I’ll talk about next.

🧠 If you’ve had an ADHD assessment before you’ll know that there’s a lot of reflecting involved and evidencing where there has been significant impact on your life. School reports are usually looked at, loved ones provide evidence and it can be a really emotional experience. You flit between doubt and relief, anger and joy, and everything in between!

So over the next few weeks I’m going to shed some light on what life was like with undiagnosed ADHD, my diagnosis and medication journey over the past year and also where I’m at now. In the hope it could help others wherever they are on their journey to diagnosis.
